Topic: A totally unique entrance for the Bride & Groom!

A few months back I was booked to play bagpipes at a wedding in Ireland. I've been playing at weddings for years so nothing really unusual about that. However the piece of music the Groom requested me to pipe himself and his Bride into the meal was - "Its a long way to the top, if you want to rock and roll" by AC/DC.

I'd never heard of the piece but as always my aim is to please the Bride and Groom with my music on the day. So I looked up the tune on youtube, watched and listened. Now I love all sorts of music but I will admit I'm not an avid fan of heavy rock, although I do like some. Well when I listened to AC/DC and this song, I was hooked! It's a fantastic song and mixes bagpipes with heavy rock perfectly!

The groom sent me an AC/DC cd and I worked it out, wasent really that difficult to be honest. However when I was practicing it, it was a real blast! I had the music up loud so I could hear it above my bagpipes and it rocked!

The wedding arrived last Sat 26 June. Now all we needed to do was time it right so that we'd start the song and then as the bride and groom entered the bagpipes would start. Well as soon as the song started everyone was standing in the room and began to clap to this great rock song. Then after 1 minute and 15 seconds the bagpipes started and that was my  queue.

I got them going and played along as the Bride and Groom followed behind. There was clapping, roaring, dancing and an absolutely brilliant atmosphere. The happy couple walked in behind the table. I stood in front still playing and watching them both. The Groom looked at me as I continued to play and I could tell this was his moment and he didn't have to say anything, his face gave me the greatest look of gratitude you could ever ask for!!!

As I left the hotel one of their guests came up to me and said "That was the best wedding entrance ever!"

And it was, it was pure kick ass rock n'roll with Bagpipes!!!
