Celebrity weddings get huge attention, from Hollywood starlets to pop singers and TV presenters. If you’re any kind of celebrity, then chances are your wedding will set off a series of trends for other couples looking to walk down the aisle. So what kinds of trends have been set by celebrity weddings of late?
Destination Weddings have always been a popular choice for couples looking for romance in far away beaches or exotic locations. Recently, more and more famous couples are eschewing tradition and are hopping on a plane to have the perfect destination wedding. Remember Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes? They held their wedding at a castle in Italy, and Eva Longoria and Tony Parker threw a soiree in Paris for their big day.
And, the best thing is you don’t need a celebrity bank balance to do this. In fact, some destination weddings could save on the cost of a traditional event back home, so doing the accounts, maybe getting hitched on the beach is an economical option, and one the whole family will remember fondly.
If you want to create that celebrity feel to your wedding, the best way you can achieve that is by setting up your own personal entourage, I mean, celebs always have an expert for something surrounding them. Whether it’s a hairstylist, makeup artist or photographer, make sure you put the best team together. Now you’ll find a number of brides taking leaves out of the celeb books to hire their own team to make sure their day goes the smoothest as possible.
Sleeveless dresses may have been the classic look for wedding dresses to date; more and more celebrities have been bringing the sleeve look back into fashion. With Katie Holmes and Nicole Kidman rocking the look. Some of the most fashionable looks are cap sleeves, which you can wear so they barely cover the arm of through an off the shoulder neckline. Or, you can go for illusion sleeves, which are made of sheer material and are enhanced with lace embroidery or detailing from beads.
One trend we’re seeing in celebrity weddings is the rise of the eco-friendly “I do.” More and more celebrities are picking environmentally friendly weddings with organic, earth friendly and all natural products, just look at Alicia Silverstone and Christopher Jarecki’s wedding at Lake Tahoe. They used invitations on printed and recycled paper, and served a dinner from local producers. You’ll find plenty of caterers and event-planning companies that offer environmentally friendly options.

We might not get our celebrity weddings, but we can watch and dream about them, so here’s some of the most iconic weddings of all time to inspire you.
Grace Kelly’s story is that of pure fairytale. The beautiful Hollywood actress married Prince Rainer of Monaco in the mid-fifties in a gorgeous lace and silk dress. She began a huge new trend in wedding couture, moving the trend away from the slender styles that were in fashion back into the full, and traditional wedding gowns.
Jacky Kennedy became one of the biggest style icons of the 60s, so it’s only understandable that she’s gone down in the wedding history books. Her wedding dress is one of the most photographed in the history of the USA, which is unsurprising since she became the most elegant and stylish First Lady’s in history.
Gwen Stefani has always been a style icon, ever since she’s been in No Doubt, so when she married in 2002, we were all dying to see what she would wear. Her marriage to Gavin Rossdale took place in Covent Garden in London, where she wore a stunning dress designed by friend John Galliano, in pink and white. Different and unique – that’s our Gwen!
Love them or hate them, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes became the most talked about couple of all times following their intense, whirlwind romances. The couple married back in 2006 in an Italian castle in what was truly a decadent ceremony. The couple walked down the aisle in Armani with some of the top stars in the audience including Jennifer Lopez and Victoria Beckham.
With Tom paired off, it seems only fair that Nicole followed suit, who married Keith Urban in 2006 on her home turf in Australia. Kidman wore a gorgeous Balenciaga dress paired with Christian Louboutin heels.
Naturally, it’s impossible to talk about iconic weddings without talking about Prince Charles and Princess Diana. The wedding pictures from the 1980 wedding went on to define a whole era, with the dress spawning a trend of meringues. Diana’s bridal gown was designed by Emmanuel and carried a 25-foot train and 10,000 hand sewn sequins and pearls.
Speaking of royalty – how can we forget the royal wedding of 2011 between Prince William and Kate Middleton! Regal, yet at the same time understated. St. James’s Palace has just announced that Kate Middleton is Pregnant
We might not have the budget for a celebrity wedding or a designer gown, but we can all take home a little bit of the dream and try to incorporate it in our own wedding day.

A reoccurring trend I absolutely love is the elegant yet sexy one shouldered wedding gown. It’s been a classic favorite over the past couple years, each year presenting a new design more beautiful than the next.
A favorite bride that we remember from past years’ is Guy Sebastian’s (Australian Idol’s winner) beautiful bride, Jules Egan. The gown was designed by Master/Slave, a famous Australian designer. It’s one shoulder design encompassed a vintage floral cluster with mauve and off white ribbons on the shoulder. Guy Sebastian still talks about how fabulous his bride looked on their wedding day.
Just a quick couple update: the couple is still happily married, Sebastian just released new tracks and his wife is a happy designer after having a successful Aussie fashion week. Fashion, love, and music? This couple still has it all.

Everywhere you look, the stars we love on the red carpet and in Hollywood are getting engaged and tying the knot! Since the celebrities in Hollywood and across the world are ones that show us the latest styles, trends, and hottest news….why shouldn’t they have the best wedding planning tips and styles to take a look at? We’ve compiled a list of the top 5 most talked about soon-to-be brides for 2011. Which one do you admire most?
Bride to be #5: Leann Rimes and Eddie Cibrian became another one of Hollywood’s beloved engaged couples on Christmas eve. The couple battled engagement rumors in November so it didn’t come as a huge surprise to friends and family but was still a shock to the happy bride to be. Rimes was seen sporting a five-carat oval diamond engagement ring set in rose gold and the couple has no wedding date set.
Bride to be #4: Reese Witherspoon and CAA agent Jim Toth are among the most recent engaged celebrities in Hollywood. The couple got engaged in late December, and plan for a wedding in fall of this year. This will be Reese Witherspoon’s second marriage and Toth’s first. Her ring is a knockout, at four carats designed by William Goldberg diamonds.
Bride to Be #3 Kat Von D and Jesse James: Controversy has definitely struck over this rocker couple. Hollywood is abuzz as Jesse James had been reportedly cheating on wife and actress Sandra Bullock in early 2010 and began dating Kat Von D shortly after. The couple has never been happier, they claim, and Kat Von D’s ring is a modern and untraditional design by Neil Lane.
Bride to be #2 Natalie Portman and Black Swan costar Benjamin Millepied had two big announcements over the holidays : engaged AND expecting. The happy couple met last year when they began filming this multi-million dollar hit movie, and sparks have been flying ever since. This 29-year old actress has had quite a year and it isn’t over yet. Portman is not only expecting her first child this year, but is also predicted to have her upcoming movie with Ashton Kutcher, No Strings Attached (opening February 11th) to be another major hit. Portman revealed her engagement ring at the People’s Choice Awards last Sunday, dropping jaws with her one of a kind ring.
Bride to be #1 Kate Middleton & Price William were the top searched, tweeted, and talked about couple near the end of 2010 and they aren’t losing any popularity anytime soon. The Price proposed to his girlfriend and college love of nearly eight years on November 16th, 2010. The couple was on vacation in Africa with friends when Price William popped the question. The ring may look familiar to some people as Price William used his mother’s, Princess Diana’s sapphire engagement ring which is also surrounded by 14 diamonds and worth an estimated 30,000 pounds. The couple is not only in the spotlight due to the fact that the royal family is about to have a royal wedding—but the royal wedding planning, designing of the gowns, the fashion, the cake, and the venue are receiving the upmost exposure. The Royal Wedding is set for April 2011, and the couple is currently extremely busy getting things together for the wedding of the decade that will linger in history for years to come.
